I was doing some research on Linux Filesystems today and came across a thread on http://www.phoronix.com that made me piss myself laughing.
It starts off here:
http://www.phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4225&mode=linear#post4225
in a thread about filesystem benchmarking and carries on here:

Basically this guy who calls himself “Jade” is convinced that and I quote:
“As you can see, REISER4 is a truly remarkable filesystem.
This is the real reason that REISER4 has not been included in the Linux kernel.
This is the real reason that Hans Reiser languishes in an Oakland prison cell at this time.”
Then further on:
“Hans Reiser is a Jew who is being slandered and set up by Jews.
His problem is that his product Reiser4, is much better than NTFS.
This is a problem for Microsoft and Microsoft owners.
The visible face of these people is “the Jews” (the secret society, not the religion, or having a Jewish mother (although, of course, the last are closely related to the first)).
The GPL prevents the usual tactic of buying him out (and turning Reiser4 into NTFS2).”
What is this guy smoking cause I want some :p
Amazing the crap people spout.

A pretty nasty security hole was found in most DNS implementations last week. Get the details here:

I’m running a mixture of Centos 4 and 5 machines. So an upgrade to the patched version of bind released by Redhat resolves the issue. Don’t get caught with your pants down.

I’ve just installed Command and Conquer: Tiberium Wars under Crossover Games 7. I however needed to run the 1.09 patch to update to the latest version. I found a really easy way to do this.
From a terminal run “/opt/cxgames/bin/cxrun”. A gui box will pop up. I selected my Bottle that CNC3 was installed under (In my case CNC3 :p), then clicked the browse button and found the patch file.
After that the patch started up and ran perfectly. Easy really :p

I’ve got an Acer Aspire 4290G. I decided to remove Vista off it and install the latest Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron. Installation went very smoothly and I was quite amazed at how well Hardy worked on the laptop.
The wireless card worked out the box, no hacking required, which is a big plus for me. I’ve always have to hack Fedora or Mandriva on my Laptops. The webcam that is built in the lid of the screen works perfectly, tested in skype. Scrolling volume control on the front of the laptop works, along with all the function buttons.
The only thing I have had and issue with is the built in microphone on the display lid. It didn’t work all that well in Vista to begin with. Easily resolved with my USB Logitech Mic.
I also had an issue with my opengl ATI graphics drivers. The laptop has an ATI X2400 Mobility graphics card. After installing the restricted graphics drivers, I got this odd flicker in Opengl (Games etc).
Turns out Compiz is enabled by default for all the advanced desktop effects, so I found a way to disable it and bang the problem went away.
All in all, I am most pleased with my Ubuntu lappie setup.

My brother is currently still playing World of Warcraft. I haven’t logged in for about 2 weeks and I’m not sure if I really want to.
Today my brother discovered that a member of his guild, who has been with us for a while, withdrew 1900G. Basically everything in the bank. It’s taken about 6 months to save that money. It was supposed to be used for buy Epic mounts, but it’s gone now. Turns out the guild member in question had his account hacked. I’m really glad to be honest. He didn’t seem like that sort of person.
I’ll contact Blizzard see what they can do.
To better news. I am currently working on getting www.nodeofcrash.com upgrade to Joomla 1.5 along with new content. Hoping to get it done in the next couple weeks
I’ve also become and Advocate for Codeweavers under Team Fortress 2, so I’m giving my bit back to the Linux Gaming Community.
Also bought myself two RC helicopters. One is quite small for flying around the house. The other is much bigger and used outdoors. It’s a lot of fun. With living next to the game reserve there is lots of space to fly them. I got them from the Adam Internet and Tech show last weekend. Was a good show, had some interesting stuff. The Sony stand as per usual had a big HDTV with a PS3. Looks very impressive.
As for today, I’ve started on my new diet. It’s a Kate Morgan diet that consists of these meal replacement shakes, fruit and a proper meal at dinner. I intend to loose lots of weight and get fit again. So wish me luck
