The Weekend

My weekend was great, I managed to accomplish a couple of tasks that needed doing, but still got plenty of time to relax.

Friday night I cooked a really good dinner of lamb chops and stir fry vegetables. Came out really nice.
On the lamb I used garlic and kumon seasoning. Kumon and lamb just go together so well.
After dinner I took it easy and watched some NCIS episodes on the xbox. Didn’t stay up to late as I was pretty tired.

Erin didn’t work Saturday which was great as it meant I had her all too myself for the weekend :)
Saturday morning we popped out and got a replacement fuse for my car, as the cigarette lighter fuse had blown a while ago. Turns out it’s a bit of a mission to get into the fuse box behind the glove compartment in my Fiesta, but I managed to get in and find the correct fuse. Went to Repco and grabbed a replacement one.
Now my iPhone dock works again :)
I also had a look at Erin’s car, as it needs some new tyres. Looked online and found that it’s probably best to get the new tires from Bob Jane T-Mart. They have some good specials on at the moment.
Erin’s dad also popped around for a coffee and a chat later in the morning.
After his visit I called up Bob Jane T-Mart to see if we could bring the car in to change the tires and the sales person said they weren’t busy. But it seems that by the time we got there, the rush was on. There wasn’t even space to park the car in their car park. So we left the tyres for another weekend.
At about 1:30pm we went to Mitcham Shopping Center to Wallis Cinemas and watched Inception.
It’s a really good movie and I can highly recommend it :)
Saturday night, Erin and I went out with some friends and their parents from Sydney for dinner. Was originally going to the Coopers Ale House, but due to the rugby being on, we ended up going to the The Beach Pit on Jetty Road in Brighton. The interior of the place was quite nice, nothing amazing though. I ordered a Seafood Platter, which had Baramundi, Salt and Pepper Squid and a prawn skewer with these yummy potato wedges. All I can say it I was expecting something average, but wow the food was good. The Baramundi was up there with some of the best fish I’d ever had, cooked to perfection. Out friends had the baked salmon and that was just awesome.
I can highly recommend the food there.

On Sunday Erin and I spent some time working on the Unit, doing some chores. Cleaned up some of the wood from the yard, popped out to Bunnings Warehouse and bought some bits and pieces and generally reduced the todo list down to a couple things, which is good. We also took our bikes out for a ride which I really enjoyed. I’d forgotten how much fun it was to ride. It was a bit cold, but refreshing.
I installed a new door handle to the spare room, put up a new towel rail and a new toilet roll holder, so lots of DIY for me :)
I like doing DIY stuff.
Sunday night Erin and I went around to her parents for roast pork and chicken from the webber bbq and lots of other yummy things. Also got to finally crack open my Heineken Mini Keg…. hmmm.

Well it’s Monday morning now, 7:42am. Time for me to get ready for work.
Until next time….

My new toy! Thank you Mwave and ASUS!

My new laptop arrived this morning. I’m so happy with it!

It’s an ASUS G60J – http://www.asus.com.au/product.aspx?P_ID=zMOzoqpR3iLeCYd0

Here’s a picture of it here

Specifications:
1.8GHZ Quad Core Intel i7
8GB RAM
500GB Hdd
Nvidia 360GTS
Blu-Ray Reader / DVD Writer.

Also, to my surprise, it came with a free bag, Razer mouse and an awesome ASUS republic of gamers headset :)
I got it for a bargain price of Mwave. I was looking at a Dell Alienware laptop, but you are looking at 20 days to ship it… which is crap.
This Asus one was ordered on Wednesday and was sitting on my table this morning (Friday). That’s the way it should be :)

I’ve uploaded some more pictures to my gallery.

The new stuff includes some pictures from my trip to Schutzenfest, which is a German Beer festival.
Lots of beer and Sausage. Although it was 42 Degrees that day, so spent some time hiding in the shade.
Turns out that drinking beer and ale during a hot day is not the best idea in the world :p

Last weekend I had a pretty awesome weekend. Especially because it was a long weekend. Monday being Adelaide cup day. Friday night was spent being lazy and I got some gaming time in on Mass Effect 2. Man what an amazing game. I stayed up until about 11:30 pm and after that I caved in as I craved sleep :p
Saturday was spent doing chores and tidying up the house a bit. Having clean clothes to wear is pretty important :p
Erin was at work that day. She started at 7 and worked until lunchtime. When she got home we crashed out on the couch and watched movies until bed time. Neither of us had any energy to do anything…. hehe.
Sunday was the day we went on our road trip. Sunday morning I went out early to fill the car up with petrol, clean the windows, check tyre pressures, the normal stuff you do before a road trip. Claire, Erin’s friend came around and we all had breakfast. After that we hit the road and headed off too Port Elliot. I’d been to Port Elliot before on a boxing day about 2 years ago with my mate Eamonn. Port Elliot is a cool little seaside town, with good pubs, fish and chips shops and an awesome bakery. The beach is really good with plenty of spots to sit and look out over the sea.
The weather was overcast, but it wasn’t too cold and we were lucky enough to miss the rain, so all in all the weather held out. Went to the main town to start with. The girls and I looked in a couple of shops which sell some quite nice home made artistic stuff. We bought some reusable bags that roll up into a little ball for shopping and I saw a pretty nice water bottle made of metal with a nice pattern on the outside. Oh and another shop had this really nice low tv cabinet made of oak and glass which looked good and was great quality as opposed to the cheap crap you get from most places nowadays. After some shopping we headed up to the look out point above Port Elliot which has a great view of the coast and the sea. We decided to walk down to the beach below the point, which was a fair walk, but we got some good exercise. Right new to the beach there is a restaurant, so we stopped and had really good fish, chips, prawns and calamari. Huge serves. Erin and I bought one to share and we still didn’t finish it.
After that we went and sat on the beach for a bit.

For the next leg of the trip we went to Victor Harbor and started off by doing some shopping at a place called Silver Paradise. It’s one of those places the ladies love… lots of shiny stuff.
Erin bought a couple really nice vases for the house and got some Lovelinks for her bracelet.
After some shopping we had some Gelati in the park which was yummy and then made out way across the bridge to Granite Island. On the way across we saw some seals swimming in the water. One of the seals came up to the edge of the water, which was about 2 meters away from me and caught a fish right in front of me… which was just amazing.
Went for a walk around the island and checked out the gift shop, where Erin bought me a little penguin plush toy which I’m using as my linux mascot now :)

At this point is was about 5pm, so we decided to make our way home. When we got home, we decided to watch some Big Bang Theory episodes. At dinner time we craved Chinese so Erin popped out to the local restaurant and got some, which was yummy. While we ate Chinese we watch Where the Wild things are. At about 10:30pm we all started crashing out, so bed time :)

Monday was spent taking it easy. We went to visit Erin’s parents in the morning for a bit, then made our way to Claires to pick her up. We then gave her a lift to the Future Concert in the city, so she wouldn’t have to drive and after dropping her off, went to my parents. We stayed for dinner which was great.

So all in all a good weekend :)

I had a very good weekend. It had plenty of downtime mixed in with some outside activities so I didn’t feel like a mushroom.

Friday night was a quiet night. I got home from work and crashed on the couch for a bit, watching some Big Bang Theory episodes, coupled with some old Buffy, The Vampire Slayer episodes. As a side note, it’s weird watching all the Angel episodes, then going back to Buffy. You tend to try and watch for any holes in the story. Haven’t found any yet :)
I also played some Mass Effect 2 for a couple hours, which was great. I love that game. My character I’ve created looks like Vin Diesel lol.

Saturday I went out and had a look at couches and ended up buying a new one. It’s so comfy compared to the old one :)
I also got a new camera case from my camera from OfficeWorks, cause the case I have is about 3 times larger than the camera… lol.
In the evening Erin and I got some awesome curry from Chaminas Indian Restaurant and sat down with my Mom and Brother and watched Couples Retreat :)

Sunday I went out for some lunch with Erin and we popped into the DVD rental place. Didn’t find any good DVDs to watch, but Erin bought WhipIt, so we watched that when we got home. About 6pmish we went off to Erin’s parents for a BBQ, where I had a couple glasses of Wine and couple glasses of Port. When we got home I slept surprisingly well… lol

That’s a mouthful… My Mario Model :)

I was lucky enough to get a Mario Model for my birthday recently from Erin.
What more could I ask for?!?
I’m keeping an eye out for a Yoshi, Luigi model too!

Here’s a picture of the little guy:
